Located in Chunxi Town, near the south bank of Shijiu lake,Xuecheng Ruins covers an area of about 60,000 square meters. In September 1997, Nanjing Museum and the Cultural and Conservation Institute of Gaochun jointly excavated the site, covering an area of 100 square meters. The excavated tombs, dwelling places and utensils, grains, etc., prove that as early as more than 6,000 years ago, there were ancestors of human beings living and multiplying here. Its excavation filled the gap of prehistoric archaeology in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze river, and it was awarded the "nomination of national important archaeological discovery honor award in 1997 in China". In December 1997, the people's government of Gaochun county announced the site as a cultural relic protection unit at the county level.
